CMB Design and Construction is a group of creative engineers and inspired architects with a touch of practicality who have the knowledge and art of the master builders of old.
Our over 40 years of expertise as general contractors and builders keeps us grounded in our designs. While creativity is pushed to the limits of our imagination and client objectives, our building experience keeps our designs practical and on-budget.
We are not a cookie-cutter design firm. We believe every site, interior, and building needs to fit the site, space, and mode.
What sets us apart is our hands on experience as actual builders of projects. That field experience and engineering backgrounds; places us with a different perspective than our competitors who only have one or the other either as strictly field without the engineering background or engineers with no real world building experience.
When you marry both the engineering with actual field building experience you have a blend that result in a balance and insight that benefits the end user.

Owner and FounderCarl Burnett
CEO Carl Burnett began construction work as an 18 year-old in Jersey City, where he studied carpentry as an apprentice eventually evolving into journeyman.
Over the course of 7 years, Burnett attended night classes to obtain a Civil Engineering degree.
In 1988, Burnett came to Atlanta to work for a drywall company. In less than 1 year, he helped grow the company from $500,000 per year to $5 million in revenue.
After that year, Burnett moved on to work for the third largest construction company in the United States. He began as a Senior Estimator, eventually moving up to Project Manager.
In 1996, after the company was sold, Burnett began his own start-up – CMB Design and Construction. The company hit the ground running, designing and building several retailers, as well as K & G Men’s stores, in various states across the U.S. The company grew to an average of $20 million per year with nearly 50 employees. During this time, CMB shifted from strictly general contracting to design-build.
Since its inception, CMB has established itself as a leader in design-build with advanced abilities to produce 3-dimensional renderings and videos, as well as necessary construction documents.
